How to Prepare

  1. Career Day – January 30, 2025, 11:30 am – 1:30pm – Shuniah Student Lounge
Learn how to prepare for a career & job fair and receive tips for getting the most of the event. Ask questions to an alumni panel for advice on best job search strategies. Learn how to Dress for Success at the Fashion Show with opportunity to choose your own outfit from the clothing giveaway. LinkedIn headshots opportunity. Resume and cover letter critiques available by staff at Student Career Services and NEW.
  2. Review the participating exhibitors prior to the event and do some initial research on each organization/company before attending. Review the job postings within the MyCareer job bank. As this is a busy event, each employer has a limited amount of time so the more research you can do in advance, the easier it will be to engage discussions and maximize your time with each employer. Take notes and follow-up with the employers on any questions afterwards. QR codes for each employer will be at the booths for your convenient link to the recruitment sites.
  3. Prepare and update your resume by either attending a drop-in session or booking an appointment. Apply to the jobs found in the MyCareer Job Bank online this year.
  4. BANK ON IT – Two Job Banks for Thunder Bay and Regional Job Search
    • Visit NEW’s Job Bank for opportunities in Thunder Bay, Marathon or Dryden community job seekers.
    • Visit the My Career Job Bank to view or apply to current recruitments for students, graduates and alumni.
