Distribution Lists (Computer Services)
Description:
Confederation College has established electronic mailing lists for a variety of different e-mail distribution groups at Confederation College. These lists allow authorized users an easy way to send important email messages to a group of students or employees at Confederation College.
Who is it for:
Employees and students at Confederation College are placed into a variety of email distribution lists automatically when their account is initially created. They may also be placed in other distribution lists at the request of authorized staff who maintain email distribution lists at the College.
How do I use it:
If you are an person authorized to post to an email distribution list, you would put the distribution list name in the “To” field of your email message. You should include an appropriate subject title in the “Subject” field and content appropriate to the list that you are using should be included in the body of the message. Click “Send” and your email message will be sent to the various members of the email distribution list.
If you would like to send recipients a file, it is preferrable to place a LINK to the file in the email message pointing to a web site, or the location of your file located in a "public" directory on our file servers. Please refrain from attaching files directly to email messages that are sent by a distribution list where possible. Directly attached files can use a huge amount of disk space on our email system and could cause problems for users trying to access the email system.
