Part-Time Certification Support Staff (HR)

The Ontario Labour Relations Board has confirmed the vote results that recognize OPSEU as the union to represent part-time support staff at Ontario colleges. Ontario colleges have always supported the right of our part-time employees to choose whether they wish to be represented by OPSEU.
Ontario law requires that a minimum of 35% of affected workers must sign cards to allow a certification vote. Meeting the threshold is important to ensure that any union seeking to represent employees has attained a clear and substantial level of support. The OLRB determined that OPSEU had attained the threshold and ruled that 35.2% of the affected workers had signed cards. 27% of eligible part-time support staff voted and a majority voted to be represented by OPSEU.
