Troubleshooting (Library)
Checklist for Remote Access to Databases
Only currently enrolled students and faculty are able to access the databases remotely. Others are welcome to come into the Library to access them locally.
Occasionally, you may experience difficulty accessing the Library's databases from off-campus. If you are having technical problems, please check the following resource for assistance.
Reminders:
● When accessing a database, ensure that you are clicking on the "Outside College" link. You should be greeted with an authentication screen.
To login, you are required to enter your barcode (the 14 digit number on your student ID card) and your PIN (available from the Library Circulation Desk).
● There may be a slight delay between the time you complete your registration process and the time you gain access to the Library's databases. This delay should be no longer than 48 hours
● Some databases, such as OVID, only permit a limited number of users. If you cannot access these databases, wait a short time and try again.
Errors:
● If you receive the error message 404 Not Found, the server may be down. Please try again later.
● If encountering trouble while trying to display a database, try clicking the Refresh button in your browser. If you are using Internet Explorer, try using Firefox instead and vice-versa.
● Part-time Faculty who are having difficulty accessing the databases should check with their department to ensure that their files are current.
