History of ILO
In 2007, the idea to infuse Indigenous content into the curriculum at Confederation College was cultivated by the Negahneewin Council in collaboration with the staff of Negahneewin College. Their desire to articulate learning outcomes that provide students with a clear foundation in Indigenous history, knowledges, and practices is now reflected in almost all College programs through the integration of ILOs.
“The inclusion of Aboriginal world views, values, languages, culture, and approaches to learning in the country’s overall educational agenda will broaden the learning experience for all students. Reconciliation...requires both widespread awareness and understanding of the colonial history...”
