Mentor Information (Student Success Centre)
Becoming a Peer Mentor means accepting the responsibility of guiding a fellow student through their first year at Confederation College.
Aims of the Peer Mentoring Program
- To assist in a smooth transition to the College by giving new students the opportunity to meet with current students in the same academic school, during their first year.
- To provide students with the skills and information they need to help fellow students settle in.
- To help new students feel an early sense of belonging within their peer group, school, and the College.
- To ensure that there is always someone to go to for information and assistance.
- To be a friend and trusted advisor throughout the new students first year at Confederation College.

Mentor Responsibilities
Meet with your mentee face-to-face
Continue to connect with your mentee on a weekly basis
Show them around the college campus
Introduce them to the Student Portal, Blackboard, Banner, Maple TA, etc.
Familiarize them with college services and supports
Review the academic calendar with them
Attend some on-campus events together
Invite them to workshops and student activities
Work jointly with other Mentors and Advisors to plan and facilitate group events
Attend and participate in special events such as first year Orientation and the Confederation College Open House
