How to Apply for International Students
Confederation College offers a variety of programs in various fields of study, levels of credential, campuses, and intakes. To review the full list of programs and fees, check out our International Student Program Chart.
Intakes close for admissions approximately six weeks prior to the start of the semester. You should apply as soon as possible to allow enough time to meet tuition payment deadlines and apply for study visas/permits. Programs may close earlier than the deadline if seats are filled and no more offers can be processed.
Note for Agents: If you don't have a signed agreement with the college, visit the Contact Us webpage to connect with an in-country representative.
Step-by-Step Guide to Apply
-
Ensure the program you are interested in is open for your preferred intake by clicking here.
Program Status Definitions:
- Closed - The program is no longer accepting applications. This may be due to it being full or it is not being offered in the selected intake.
- Open - The program is accepting applications.
- Waitlist - We have sent offers to fill the available program seats, however, we are still accepting applications for this program. We may extend more offers once existing ones expire and we can assess the number of payments and/or visa approvals received.
If you are interested in applying for a postgraduate work permit post-completion, review the programs that are PGWP-aligned. Confederation College’s main campus is in Thunder Bay.
Some programs are offered at our regional campuses but not all are open for international students due to the parameters of your study permit. If you are interested in studying at a regional campus, ensure you are informed of where they are located as some are in remote areas of our region.

Visit the Confederation College International Application System and follow the step-by-step application process. Pay the non-refundable $125.00 CAD application fee via credit card and ensure you click "Submit" to complete your application.
Note: Use the link provided above for international students, not the domestic Ontario Colleges website.
Required Documents:
- High school, college, and/or university transcripts and diplomas or degrees (original language and English translation)
- English proficiency result for non-native English speakers
- Valid passport copy (photo and details page)
-
Once submitted and complete, applications will be assessed. Applications are considered based on the time of application and academics and will close once the program is full. Processing time is five business days but may be delayed during peak times.
Note: Applying and paying the application fee does not guarantee a Letter of Acceptance (LOA).
-
After submission, your application may receive one of the following responses:
- Closed: The program is full, and an LOA cannot be extended.
- Needs More Information: Additional documentation is required for eligibility assessment.
- Waitlist: Applications are still being accepted, but program seats are full. More LOAs may be extended later, depending on expired LOAs and payment/visa approval assessments.
Types of LOAs:
- Offer: Unconditional LOA.
- Conditional Offer: LOA with outstanding requirements specified.
-
Pay the first semester tuition fees by the deadline listed on your LOA to confirm acceptance. After the deadline, the offer becomes invalid. Allow 3-5 business days for overseas tuition fee payments to be received. Once received, a receipt will be uploaded to your application in OCAS.
For details on how to pay, visit the How to Make a Payment webpage.
-
After your tuition fee payment is received and processed, the College will request a PAL on your behalf. Your PAL will be issued to your application portal under supporting documents within five days of the receipt being posted. You will receive an email informing you that your PAL is ready for download. Please make sure that your email address in the application portal is correct and valid.
Note: PALs will only be issued to students whose fee payment is received in full, on time, and as specified in their LOA.

Review the IRCC website for details on how to apply for your study permit. If your program requires a co-op/work placement, the co-op letter will be included with your offer letter, and you should apply for a co-op permit alongside your study permit.
