Mission & Objectives (FNNRYEP)
Mission
The overarching mission of the FNNRYEP is to empower First Nations communities in sustainable resource management through capacity development of their youth.
Objectives
To advance this mission, the essential objectives of the FNNRYEP are to:
-
Provide skills to encourage First Nations youth to pro-actively engage in their future career aspirations through a commitment to education, training/certification and employment;
- Empower First Nations youth to build capacity by providing the necessary skills training in resource management; and,
- Accomplish the above in a safe, structured and predictable work environment in a camp setting.
Thus, the FNNRYEP strives to empower youth to participate in career and/or entrepreneurial opportunities taking place in the various natural resource based industries. Many of these activities, such as mining, mineral exploration, forestry, environmental management, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and Species at Risk (SAR) research are also taking place in First Nations communities and on their traditional lands.
