Interested in incorporating real world problems and providing an experiential learning opportunity for your students in the classroom?
CityStudio Thunder Bay is a new and unique opportunity that allows students to work on projects and problems directly in the classroom that impact the City of Thunder Bay and community (SDG #4 Quality Education and SDG #17 Partnerships for the Goals). CityStudio is a framework for community-campus collaboration that bridges the gap between academia and the community to co-create projects to build a safer, more joyful, and sustainable community. Thunder Bay has joined a network of over 15 other CityStudio across Canada and globally to provide students with exceptional learning opportunities.
Projects included in CityStudio Thunder Bay are:
- Identified by staff at the City of Thunder Bay or through the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan’s Action Tables. If you already have a project idea, we are interested to hear it too!
- Projects are developed and designed with faculty to integrate into a course – projects can be scaled and scoped to meet course requirements.
- Deliverables for the project are determined during the project development phase and can include identifying best practices, data collection, technical solutions, policy analysis, mapping, mock-ups, experiments, demonstrations, marking plans, etc.
If you are interested in exploring project opportunities or already have a project in mind, reach out to Robyn Gillespie ([email protected]).
