Confederation College Announces Opening of Sioux Lookout Northwest Employment Works

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON – April 22, 2024) – Confederation College is proud to announce the opening of the Northwest Employment Works (NEW) office at the Sioux Lookout Campus. This initiative, supported by Employment Ontario, confirms the commitment by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development to continue providing comprehensive employment services to the Sioux Lookout area, including students, job seekers, and employers.
The NEW office is dedicated to enhancing workforce development and facilitating employment success across the region. Offering a broad spectrum of services, from career counselling and job search assistance to employer services and training opportunities, the NEW office is poised to become a central hub for employment support in the area. Confederation College has similar offices in Thunder Bay, Dryden, and Marathon.
“I’d like to congratulate Confederation College on the opening of the Northwest Employment Works (NEW) office at the Sioux Lookout Campus,” said David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. “Our government is focused on delivering the highest quality employment and training services for the people of Ontario and this office is a step in ensuring job seekers, businesses and communities receive the services they need.”
Carol Cline, Dean of Workforce Development at Confederation College, highlighted the importance of this new office, "The establishment of the NEW office in Sioux Lookout underscores our commitment to fostering employment opportunities and supporting workforce development across the region. We are excited to offer a suite of services that cater to the community's unique needs, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they require to succeed,” Cline said.
Brad Mesich, Manager of the Sioux Lookout Campus, emphasized the collaborative effort behind this initiative, "We are thrilled to welcome the NEW office to the community. This effort is a testament to the dedication of many, including the invaluable contributions of Sioux-Hudson Employment Services, whose hard work and dedication from 1982 until earlier this year, have laid a strong foundation for employment services in our community. We are grateful for their legacy, and we’re excited to build upon it."
