Confederation College Thunderhawks to Compete at OCAA Provincial Curling Championships

(THUNDER BAY, ON – February 8, 2024) – The Confederation College Thunderhawks Men’s Curling Team has arrived in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, ready to compete in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Provincial Curling Championships. The competition is set to take place from Thursday, February 8, 2024, through Saturday, February 10, at the YNCU Curling Centre.

Six collegiate teams from across Ontario will vie for the championship title and the opportunity to advance to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Curling Championships, happening in Fredericton, NB, March 12 – 16.

The Thunderhawks lineup features Brayden Sinclair as Skip, Josh Palmai as Third, Ryley Booth as Second, and Keane Campbell as Lead, with Dan Stezenko at the helm as coach. This team has been diligently preparing for the championships since September and demonstrating commitment and passion for the sport.

Coach Stezenko shared his optimism and pride in the team, stating, “It’s wonderful to be curling against these other great college teams at this level. Our team has been training since September. I am very pleased with the effort of our student-athletes.”

The OCAA Provincial Curling Championships promise intense competition among Ontario’s top collegiate curling teams. The Thunderhawks are eager to showcase their skills and aim to secure a spot at the national championships.

The Confederation College Thunderhawks Athletics Program is committed to fostering excellence in athletics while supporting the academic and personal growth of its student-athletes.
