This past year, the Ontario Ministry of College and Universities, through eCampus Ontario, launched the Virtual Learning Strategy to expand the possibilities of traditional and life-long learning through the accelerated use of both online and hybrid learning.
Confederation College was successful in our application for the Digital Capacity Stream which supports institutions with low current capacity to receive targeted supports in three areas: instructional design, open education and paid students.
We are excited to welcome three members to the eCampus Ontario VLS Team:
- Hayden Veillieux has joined the team as the Open Educational Resource Specialist in the Paterson Library Commons. A proud alum of Confederation College, Hayden has worked with the library at the College for a few years mainly in the role of Multimedia Specialist. Hayden brings a multifaceted set of skills and working knowledge to the VLS team.
- Sukhmeet Kaur has joined the team as the Educational Media Specialist. Sukhmeet Kaur has a Bachelor in Education and Master in Computer in Application from India. She came to Canada in 2017 and graduated this year in E-Learning Design and Training Development from Lambton College in Sarnia. She worked as eDeveloper/eCreator in Lambton college during her studies. She also spent 2 years working as Computer Teacher in India. She is passionate about learning and the power of education. Currently working as the Educational Media Production specialist is enhancing her professional and personal growth and development. In her free time, she enjoys internet surfing, listening to music and visiting places.
- Jennifer Andersen has joined the team as the Instructional Designer. Prior to coming to Confederation College, Jennifer worked as a secondary school teacher with the Durham and Thunder Bay School Boards and in a research coordinator role at Lakehead University. At Confederation College, Jennifer's role has been as a Communications Resource Specialist and a part-time Communications instructor for the past couple of years while also supporting students in a leadership role at the Writing Centre and through the Writing Across the Curriculum program. She was most recently employed on a one-year leave remote contract as an eLearning and Curriculum specialist at Western University where she also participated as a member of Western University committees on Indigenous Curriculum Education, Faculty and Student Thriving and Faculty Masterclasses.
Please join us in welcoming Hayden, Sukhmeet and Jennifer as they embark on this exciting project!
