Captain Jason Fawcett was born in London, Ontario and became obsessed with aviation at a very young age with exposure to the London International Airshows that his parents and uncle would take him to. This passion was put on pause as he pursued his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with honours in 2004. By 2007, he decided to pursue his love of aviation and enrolled in the Aviation Flight Management program at Confederation College.

After graduation, he returned home to London, where he became a flight instructor at London Aero Academy. He was soon offered a job to instruct at Confederation College and without hesitation he returned to Thunder Bay where he instructed for nearly 2 years. It was around that time, the Royal Canadian Air Force had announced a modification to the vision requirements in the selection process to increase the depth in candidates for the pilot trade. This opened the door to Jason’s dream of being a RCAF aviator. Within days, Jason had laser eye surgery to put himself in position to be selected among the few chosen to take part in the RCAF pilot selection process.

He soon found out his dream was going to become reality. After completing Basic training in 2011, Jason went through the phased pilot training program and attained his RCAF wings in 2013. He was then selected to join 429 Squadron to fly the mighty CC-177 Globemaster. After 3 years on the jet, Capt Fawcett was posted to 434 Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron where he conducted a staff tour as Deputy Project Control Officer, overseeing various innovative projects that seek to modernize various fleets across the RCAF. Following this four-year staff tour, Capt Fawcett was selected to re-join 429 Squadron to fly the Globemaster once again, where he currently resides.

He volunteered recently to be part of the crew that delivered pallets of “Toys for the North”, an annual program designed ultimately to bring joy to children in communities who may not experience Christmas the same way we do. He was very proud to have been part of this effort and would like to extend his thanks and gratitude to Confederation College for paving the way to the execution and employment of his childhood dreams and being a focal point for the pursuit of success in Ontario, and wherever your achievements my take you.
