We are pleased to announce that Geraldine will be shifting to the position of Regional Indigenous Liaison.  The role of the Regional Indigenous Liaison is to engage in meaningful and collaborative relationship building with Indigenous communities and organizations based on respect and reciprocity toward a long term and ongoing relationship between Indigenous peoples and Confederation College.  Geraldine will be based in Kenora, but this position will support all the Regional Campuses.

Geraldine began working out of the Lake of the Woods in 2002 as Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer, support staff for the office of Contract Training in Kenora and recently, Student Success Advisor, supporting students at the Lake of the Woods and Red Lake campuses.

Geraldine is an alumna of Confederation College; holding diplomas in Social Service Worker and Aboriginal Law and Advocacy, as well as a Board of Governors Certificate in Aboriginal Canadian Relations.

Geraldine lives in Kenora and she is an Anishinaabekwe, belonging to the Sturgeon clan and is a proud band member of Naotkamegwanning First Nation in the Treaty #3 territory. She is a mother of two adult children, Erin and Sean.  Outside of work and home, she is an active member on the Indigenous Advisory Committee of the Lake of the Woods Museum in Kenora.

We are happy to have Geraldine return to the role of Indigenous Regional Liaison and she will continue to work out of the Lake of the Woods campus in Kenora.

Please join us in congratulating Geraldine!
