Feeling sad? Have a Persian!

More than 130 international students have successfully completed quarantine at Sibley Hall. Others are still in self-isolation. It is not an easy road. Quarantining in a small space for two weeks, with no direct human contact is a lonely and mentally challenging experience. Add to that, the anxiety of moving to a new country, being far away from family and friends, and then, upon completion of quarantine, walking out into a polar vortex, and you can imagine how difficult this experience is. Despite it all, our students have shown amazing resiliency and good humour.
We would like to express our gratitude to the many individuals and departments who have helped the students. A special and heartfelt thanks to SUCCI for food/snack bags, to Student Accessibility Services who donated Skip the Dishes gift cards, to library staff for their support and suggestions, to staff at Residence for being such great hosts and to the many College staff who have sent words of encouragement, support and advice.
Last week, students in quarantine received a copy of the February edition of The Walleye, and a persian treat…. what could be more "Thunder Bay"? They were a hit!
