Ombuds Office Update

The Ombuds Office has been a valued service supported jointly by SUCCI and Confederation College for the past 12 years. The Ombuds Advisory Committee provides oversight of the operations of the Ombuds Office and its purpose includes planning for the Ombuds Office and reviews of the service. 

As a result of COVID-19, visits to the Ombuds Office have significantly declined. The contract for the current Ombudsperson, Paul Straiton, expires in early February. After careful consideration, the committee determined that this is an opportunity to pause the existing service to review the current job description and terms of reference to ensure that they align with the needs and direction of Confederation College and SUCCI. We thank Paul for his efforts to support students during his contract and wish him continued success in his career. The Ombuds Advisory Committee aims to complete the review and post the position in an open competition to ensure services resume in the Fall 2021 semester.
