Creating Accessible Teaching Materials
As educators, we have a responsibility to accommodate students with disabilities under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. As a College community, we must learn to serve, develop and delivery accessible programs and courses for these students.
Faculty realize that persons with disabilities might have specific accessibility needs. Removing barriers so effective learning can take place may seem like a daunting task. Thankfully, Accessibility Services and Library staff are always available to help you navigate these and many more available resources. One helpful tool is found within The Learning Portal’s Faculty Tool Kit called The Learning Portal’s AODA Resources.
AODA Resources has been designed for employees responsible for carrying out and obtaining goods, services and facilities on behalf of the College. It provides sound and helpful advice in running an effective classroom within the accessibility guidelines, along with sample checklists and a vast array of additional resources.
To learn more about how AODA can assist you as a Faculty member, contact either Accessibility Services or the Library.
